Tour Day 1 - Darwin to Mary River
See the falls of Litchfield National Park before arriving at the Mary River Wetlands. This afternoon look for ‘crocs’ and other wildlife on our private river cruise. Arrive at Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge for dinner and overnight camp. (LD)Tour Day 2 - Mary River to Kakadu
We call in at Mamukala Wetlands then head to the awesome Jim Jim Falls to take a walk to the base of the falls before continuing on to Twin Falls. Here we join a National Park operated boat and boardwalk experience up the stunning gorge to the waterfall where you can relax on the sandy bank. We drive on to Kakadu for dinner and our overnight camp. (BLD)Tour Day 3 - Kakadu to Darwin
Our first stop is Ubirr where we discover ancient Aboriginal rock art. We continue our journey to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge), where we do some hiking and enjoy a refreshing dip in the plunge pools. An early morning departure from Darwin takes us down to Adelaide River to visit the ex movie star "Charlie the water buffalo". Continue travelling through Katherine to reach Mataranka for lunch and a refreshing swim in this natural spring. The historic Daly Waters pub is our next stop. Our overnight destination tonight is the Heartbreak Hotel at Cape Crawford, regarded as one of the most remote pubs in Oz. (LD)Tour Day 6 - Cape Crawford to Adels Grove
After spending a night of remoteness and amazing stargazing, we farewell the Heartbreak Hotel. Today we negotiate 500km of unsealed roads, river crossings and some of the most spectacular scenery this part of Australia has to offer. Pass through many cattle stations, stopping at Hells Gate Roadhouse, before arriving at Adels Grove late afternoon. Time is allowed to cool off with a swim or just relax. Accommodation at Adels Grove is permanent camp sites. (BLD)Tour Day 7 - Adels Grove to Croydon
This morning we visit the beautiful Lawn Hill Gorge (Boodjamulla). Featuring spectacular gorges and sandstone ranges, time is allowed to view aboriginal rock art, cool off with a swim or explore the gorge by canoe (own expense). Continuing on, we make stops at Gregory Downs for lunch and the Burke & Wills Roadhouse. Our overnight destination is Croydon, where we relax with a swim at Lake Belmore & a spectacular sunset. Our accommodation is the Club Hotel, a pub with lots of charm & character. (BLD)Tour Day 8 - Croydon to Cairns
Continue through the Gulf Savannah region this morning. Notice an extreme change in landscape and vegetation as we enter the tropical Atherton Tablelands. Lunch today will be at Millstream Falls before stopping at Wooroonooren National Park. Enjoy a 2 hour relaxed introduction rainforest walk to Nandroya Falls where we cool off with a swim. Evening arrival into Cairns is followed with dinner to say goodbye to our fellow travelling companions. (BLD)Tour Completes in Cairns
