Tour Day 1 - Hobart to Strahan
First we travel to Mount Field National Park, where we stretch our legs on the Russell Falls and Tall Trees walks. We continue on to Lake St Clair for a view of Australiaˇ's deepest lake. On our way to Strahan we hike and explore the Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. We spend tonight in our own exclusive accommodation in the historic coastal township of Strahan where your guide will fill you in on the amazing history of pining, mining and convicts! (LD)Tour Day 2 - Strahan to Cradle Mountain Region
This morning we enjoy the intriguing history of Strahan with options to suit everyone! Take a stroll along the foreshore or up the Water Tower Hill for a priceless lookout over Macquarie Harbour and Ocean Beach; walk through a rainforest to Hogarth Falls (if you are quiet and lucky you may even spot a platypus); if you are feeling more adventurous arrange with your guide to canoe in a nearby lake (at no extra cost). Another option is to join a catamaran cruise of the central highlands and the notorious Hells Gates (at own expense). Later, we take a walk through the Henty Sand Dunes, where you can even take a quad bike tour (at own expense). In the afternoon we visit the 'Silver City' of Zeehan. In the late afternoon you'll have the opportunity for a bicycle ride (included) at our overnight lodge accommodation. (BLD)Tour Day 3 - Cradle Mountain to Devonport
Today we discover the World Heritage Cradle Mountain National Park. Enjoy the pure air with a guided walk around Dove Lake with views of Cradle Mountain, or challenge yourself with a more strenuous hike (unguided). We spend this afternoon exploring more of the state's mid north before our arrival in Devonport. (BL)Tour Day 4 - Devonport or Launceston to Bicheno
Travelling northeast of Launceston, we stop at the sweetly fragranced, rolling purple hills of the Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm (seasonal, Dec-Feb). Continuing through the changing landscape of heritage farms, forests and mining towns, stopping at the spectacular St Columba’s Falls, which pump out an average 42,000 litres of water per minute! We spend the afternoon at the breathtaking Bay of Fires, where you can take a stroll along the gleaming white sands or a swim in the clear turquoise water if the weather’s good. We stay overnight in the seaside township of Bicheno. After dinner, you can choose to take a local guided tour to see fairy penguins nesting (at own expense). (LD)Tour Day 5 - Bicheno to Port Arthur
Hike stunning Freycinet National Park for sweeping views of Wineglass Bay and beyond. You may choose to trek on to Wineglass Beach from the lookout or for those more adventurous; a climb to the top of Mount Amos. Travelling south to Port Arthur, we’ll stop to enjoy a rainforest walk along the way. Tonight, take the spine chilling Port Arthur Ghost Tour for a glimpse into Australia's convict past (own expense). We stay the night at Port Arthur. (BLD)Tour Day 6 - Port Arthur to Hobart
We’ll spend this morning exploring the Port Arthur Historic Site and take a boat cruise around the harbour. Next, we visit Remarkable Cave and a range of other spectacular coastal sites on the Tasman Peninsula on our way to Hobart. (BL)Travel Insurance in Australia:
